The California Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education (BPPE) protects students and consumers through the oversight of California’s private postsecondary educational institutions by conducting qualitative reviews of educational programs and operating standards, proactively combating unlicensed activity, impartially resolving student and consumer complaints, and conducting outreach.
Marston Polygraph Academy has been training professional examiners since 2004. Marston is the oldest and most experienced, California approved polygraph training institution.
BPPE approval to operate means compliance with state standards as set forth by the BPPE in this chapter. An Annual Report must be filed with the BPPE by each approved institution pursuant to California Education Code section 94934. Each Institution reports the required aggregate information for all locations (main and all branches). In addition to the Annual Report, each Institution is required to submit a Performance Fact Sheet and a school catalog.
The BPPE published the information provided in the link below as it was submitted by Marston Polygraph Academy (MPA). The BPPE does not endorse, recommend, or favor any private educational institution whose information is published or provided.
This fact sheet is filed with the California Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education by this private educational institution. Regardless of any information the Academy may have relating to completion rates, placement rates, starting salaries, or license exam passage rates, this fact sheet contains the information as calculated pursuant to state law.
The objective of our quality polygraph training program is to produce competent and ethical polygraph examiners, who are trained to use current techniques, formats, and equipment, in accordance with policies and standards set forth by the American Polygraph Association. Review our school catalog for more detailed information.
Most consumers receive a quality education and have a generally positive experience from attending an approved private postsecondary educational institution (institution). However, in the event a consumer believes an institution's administrative processes or educational programs are compromised and not up to the required minimum standards, the Bureau should be notified. A complaint may be filed by writing (Complaint Form) or calling the Bureau's Enforcement Section at the following address and telephone number:

If you have questions about Marston Polygraph Academy's quality polygraph training, we have answers!
Question: How long does it take to complete the program?
Answer: The program is 10 weeks long and requires 400 hours to complete.
Question: How much does it cost?
Answer: We offer a "bundle" containing the basic polygraph examiner course, the PSCOT course and all the equipment necessary to become a certified polygrapher for one low price as shown under the Course tab. As a private educational institution, we can work with students to meet individual needs and goals. Each course we offer may be purchased and attended separately, as needed.
Question: Can I complete coursework online?
Answer: Polygraph training institutions are accredited by the American Polygraph Association which requires polygraph training institutions to adhere to specific parameters. Since polygraph is a highly technical skill requiring 400 hours of academic preparation and hands-on training, one of the parameters is that polygraph training must be completed in person within a 10-week timeframe.
Prospective students should call the Academy's director at (951) 235-2265 for additional information or answers to specific questions.
*Approval to operate means compliance with California State standards as set forth in CEC94897.
